Emmanuel Croset is a Johannesburg-based photographer and fixer whose work examines social structures, privilege, and exclusion. Born in Pretoria and raised across multiple countries, he brings a global perspective to his storytelling.

For six years, he has worked professionally in photojournalism and documentary photography. Trained at the Market Photo Workshop (2019), he is currently a stringer for Agence France-Presse (AFP), with work featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, Le Monde, Internazionale, and El País.

As a fixer, Emmanuel has collaborated with ARTE Reportage, NRK, Canal Plus, AFP, JournAfrica, and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, facilitating access to key communities and industries in South Africa. His work focuses on environmental and humanitarian issues, including illegal coal mining, the Pelophepa train, and the spinning community.

His freelance clients include UN - agencies, the EU Commission, the Italian Embassy, AstraZeneca. His assignments have ranged from covering refugee programs and corporate events to weddings and conferences, often requiring same-day deliverables in coordination with videographers and producers.

Emmanuel believes in photography’s ability to bridge gaps in understanding and evoke empathy. Through his work, he aims to bring audiences closer to the realities of different communities, prompting deeper engagement with global issues.

He is based in Johannesburg.
